Prohibited items

As mentioned above, iPhones, which are considered "prohibited items," cannot be listed on GaijinMall.

• “Prohibited items” refer to items that GaijinMall has defined as “items that cannot be sold.”
• Specifically, this applies to iPhones that are unsure about "activation lock" or "network usage restrictions," iPhones and other smartphones that are under contract, and have not been fully paid for the device are prohibited.
• "Activation Lock" is a mechanism that protects a lost iPhone from being used by a third party, and unless this lock is released, the next user (purchaser) will not be able to use the iPhone.
• "Network Usage Restrictions" refers to restrictions imposed by carriers on iPhones that are purchased in installments or are in arrears with communication charges (services that pass the carrier line, such as the internet or telephone, cannot be used).
• Additionally, iPhones and other smartphones with existing apps or game account information still cannot be sold on GaijinMall.

Points to note when listing and shipping smartphones

When listing a smartphone, please be sure to check (1) to (3) before responding.

*Please note that depending on the listing method, there is a possibility that the product will be deleted.

Item (4) is optional, but we would appreciate it if you could refer to it when listing.

Check Network Usage Restrictions and IMEI

If the network usage status is "◯" or "-", you can sell the item. Please list your IMEI and network usage status. Please check the network usage restrictions according to the steps below.

STEP.1 Check IMEI

For iOS devices:

• Check from settings: "Settings" > "General" > "Information"
• Confirm by phone number: Open the call screen and enter "*#06#"
• Check the engraving on the SIM tray or back of the iPhone alt

For Android devices:

• Check from settings: "Settings" > "Device information" > "Device status" > "IMEI information"
• Confirm by phone number: Open the call screen and enter "*#06#"
• Remove the battery pack from your device and check the number written on it.

STEP.2 Check network usage restrictions

Please access each carrier's website and enter the IMEI number of the device you confirmed in STEP.1.

Initialize the Device

Please be sure to initialize your device before listing it. Please follow the steps below to initialize your device.

For iOS devices: Please check the steps from apple official website

For Android devices: On your device, go to "Settings" > "Accounts" > "Google" and select the account you want to delete. Select "Delete Account" from the menu on the top left.

For Android devices: Operate your device in the order of "Settings" > "Security" > "Change screen lock". After entering your current PIN, select "None".

STEP.3 Initialize the device

For iOS devices: Operate your device in the following order: "Settings" > "General" > "Reset" > "Erase all content and settings" > "Erase iPhone".

For Android devices: Operate the device in the order of "Settings" > "General Management" > "Reset" > "Initialize to Factory Defaults".

Remove the SIM card from the main unit

GaijinMall prohibits smartphones with used SIM cards therefore, please be sure to remove the SIM card from the device before listing or shipping it. To remove the SIM card, please refer to the steps below.

For iOS devices: Push the pin into the small hole in the SIM tray on the side of the device. The SIM tray and SIM card will come out, so take them out by hand.

For Android devices: Open the cap on the side of the device and pull out the SIM tray. The SIM tray and SIM card will come out, so take them out by hand.

Check the maximum battery capacity

The "maximum capacity" of a battery is the maximum percentage that it can charge, assuming that it is 100% when fully charged when new. The maximum capacity gradually decreases with repeated charging and discharging. Please check the status of your device using the method below, and select the applicable maximum battery capacity in the selection items in the product information field.

iPhone: Open "Settings" > "Battery" > "Battery Status" on the main unit.

Android: Settings > Device information (system) > Battery items such as "Battery information" and "Battery performance display".

Mobile devices and all SIM cards that have usage restrictions, are under contract, or have outstanding payments (prohibited items)

Overview

We prohibit the listing of devices and SIM cards that may not be usable by the purchaser, as they may not only cause trouble, but may also be used for crimes or illegal activities. If the secretariat determines based on reasonable grounds that the item falls under a prohibited item, we may take measures such as canceling the transaction, deleting the item, or restricting its use. When listing your device, please write and post proof of your contract status, acquisition route, and IMEI (device identification number), and initialize it to factory settings before listing it. What constitutes a violation?

• Under contract
• Uninitialized
• Items whose activation lock has not been released
• Items with network usage restrictions
• Items that have not been clearly proven to have been paid in full
• *Available for sale at some GaijinMall Shops. For GaijinMall Shops Guide, please check which mobile devices have contracts and payments remaining (individuals and sole proprietorships only)
• Prepaid mobile phone before cancellation
• All SIM cards (including eSIM entry package)
• Other items that the secretariat deems inappropriate.
